Technical SEO (one-off)

Get your site into its best possible technical position. Then the ongoing work compounds.

Most small business websites are leaving 20-40% of their potential search visibility on the table through technical debt: missing schema markup, unoptimised images, broken internal links, slow pages, weak E-E-A-T signals. None of this is content. None of it is backlinks. It is all fixable in a bounded project, and the fixes compound with whatever ongoing work you do afterwards.

The same level of technical SEO I have done on this website. Schema markup across every page type, proper Open Graph + Twitter Card metadata, Core Web Vitals in the green, internal linking built around hub-and-spoke, AI-detection-scrubbed copy. Every client site gets the same. Per the plan: this is one-off work, not a retainer. SEO is ongoing, but the foundation is bounded.

What the service delivers

Fifteen deliverables. One fixed project. Then the ongoing work compounds on top.

✓

Full crawl + index audit: every URL crawled, every redirect chain mapped, every orphan identified

✓

Schema.org implementation for your page types: LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, Article, Organization

✓

Open Graph + Twitter Card metadata verified across every page

✓

Image optimisation: alt text audit, compression, WebP/AVIF conversion, lazy loading, image sitemap

✓

Internal linking audit + implementation: hub-and-spoke between your services, locations, and content

✓

Core Web Vitals remediation: LCP, INP, CLS measured, root-caused, fixed

✓

Robots.txt audit + fixes, XML sitemap audit + fixes

✓

Hreflang setup if your site serves multiple UK regions or multiple languages

✓

Heading hierarchy check: one H1 per page, no skipped levels, semantic structure

✓

Canonical URL verification: every indexable page has a self-referencing canonical

✓

E-E-A-T signal review: author bios, About page quality, contact information, trust signals

✓

404 + broken redirect audit: every dead-end path resolved or redirected

✓

Site architecture review: URL structure, breadcrumb navigation, taxonomy

✓

Page speed optimisation: critical CSS, font loading, JS deferral, image weight

✓

Mobile usability audit: tap targets, viewport, scroll behaviour, font sizes

A written audit report before any fixes are made. The scope is in writing before any commitment. Per the plan: this is project-scoped work, not retainer. After the Foundation is done, ongoing SEO (content, GBP, citations, reviews, backlinks) compounds on top of a sound base.

How the engagement runs

Audit. Fix. Verify. Three weeks of focused work.

  1. Step 1. Audit week. I run a full crawl of the site, cross-reference the findings against Search Console and your analytics, and produce a written audit report. Every issue is graded by impact: high (definitely costing you rankings), medium (likely costing you rankings), low (cosmetic).
  2. Step 2. Fix week. The high-impact issues go in first. Schema markup, broken redirects, image weight, internal linking. Each fix is reviewed by me before it ships. No batch deploys and walk-aways. The dashboard records every change.
  3. Step 3. Verify week. I rerun the same audit that found the issues and produce a before/after comparison. Core Web Vitals, schema validation, internal link counts, redirect chains cleared. Anything that did not improve gets fixed in a second pass.

Questions

The technical ceiling is whatever is broken now

Fifteen distinct deliverables across four categories. (1) Crawl + index audit. (2) Schema markup implementation across your page types. (3) Image optimisation. (4) Internal linking audit + implementation. (5) Core Web Vitals remediation. (6) Robots.txt + sitemap.xml audit. (7) Hreflang setup if multi-region. (8) Heading hierarchy check. (9) Canonical URL verification. (10) E-E-A-T signal review. (11) 404 + broken redirect audit. (12) Site architecture review. (13) Page speed optimisation. (14) Mobile usability audit. (15) Open Graph + Twitter Card metadata.

Because the work is bounded. The audit runs once, the fixes are made once, the deliverables are checked off once. There is no ongoing content calendar, no monthly report, no forever retainer. SEO is ongoing work in the sense that rankings are won and lost monthly. But the technical foundation is a one-shot project. After this is done, ongoing work (content, backlinks, GBP, reviews) compounds on top of a sound base.

No, and nobody honest will tell you that. This puts your site in its best possible technical position. Whether you then rank depends on competition, content, backlinks, and Google updates none of us control. Per the plan: "SEO is an ongoing task, not a one-shot solution." The Foundation removes the technical ceiling. It does not put you on the podium.

The retainer is forward-looking: monthly content, GBP work, citations, reviews, backlinks. The Foundation is backward-looking: fixing what is already broken or sub-optimal. A client can buy just the Foundation if they want a clean slate, then move to a retainer. Or buy both and the Foundation gets done first as the platform gets built.

Two to four weeks for most sites. Audit in week 1, fixes in weeks 2-3, sign-off and verification in week 4. Larger sites (50+ pages) take longer. Smaller sites (under 10 pages) take less.

Project-scoped, quoted after the initial audit. Most sites land between £1,500 and £3,500 depending on size and the depth of issues found. The audit itself is billable as the first deliverable. No surprise quotes after the fact: the scope is in writing before any fixes start.

A written audit report (the issues found), the fixes applied to the live site, and a verification pass showing the before/after of every metric that matters: page speed, schema validation, internal link counts, broken redirects cleared, image weight reduced, headings fixed. Plus a 30-day support window where any regression gets fixed at no charge.

Yes, if your site has not had a technical audit in the past 12 months. Retainers compound gains on a sound technical base. If your base has unresolved issues (broken redirects, missing schema, slow pages), the retainer is running on a treadmill. The Foundation removes that drag.

Ready to see what you're working with?

Ongoing work compounds on whatever base you have. If your base has unresolved issues, you are running on a treadmill. The Foundation removes that drag in a single engagement. The first conversation costs nothing.

The audit itself is billable as the first deliverable. If we agree the scope after seeing the audit, the audit fee rolls into the project total. If we do not agree, you keep the audit and owe nothing further.

A quick honest note.

Fees cover the work we do, not outcomes we don't control. Once a fee is paid, it's not refundable. The work begins immediately. Search engine rankings, third-party platform decisions, audience reception: those are outside anyone's control. What we control is doing the work, reviewing it personally, and showing you every step in the dashboard. Full terms.
